My Web Site

this may be as close to a Web site as I get
I have been working on my own shop and have it setup for doing Airguns and fabrication of small parts for several different lines of work but i concentrate on PCP type air guns and hop up parts.
my main focus is the rapid mark II line of PCP but i also work on Daystates, AirArms,
and will do most any mods with these and other makes .
heres my shop setup .
i have this room dedicated for machine work and have it setup now thanks to Rutland Tool & supply

The .50cal Rapid project

Started fitting the 50cal barrel
thanks to Tofazfou for the donor barrel for this project

I started doing this to see if the Rapid platform can support such a caliber.
and to improve on any parts that are already produced
some testing done as its just getting under way .

the Barrel started from a dragon slayer 50cal that was converted to a 45cal
and was left over for this project .
here was the 45 and 50cal barrels
45cal

the barrel was then turned down to fit in the rapid receiver and ported for the install.

next was the pellet probe this is done in two parts the outer part that seat on the barrel and the inner probe that pushes the pellet or in this case the round ball in the barrel

due to the outer O.D. of this barrel i also had to slab cut it .060th to clear the 500cc air bottle

you can barely see the flat in the barrel

For the ammo I went with
Hornady .50 Cal, 176 Grains, Lead Round Balls ordered from
Impact Air Gun
he had the best price on them .
720 fps will give 200fpe so that's my set goal.
The Dragon Slayer barrel i have from the gun I think was up around 600 plus fps form the past setup . .
here are the 50cal round balls next to some 25cal in the middle and some of the .22calgold kodiaks lower

best output from this to date is 110fpe or 529fps

still working on the setup and internals parts .
and then heres some shot strings for past testing.

first set

it was up to 107.2 fpe
519.3
519.5
518.9
515.8
520.2
518.7
519.4
small shot string
its good like this for several rounds .and latter i did some inturnal stuff and moved that number up .
524.4
525.2
526.4
524.4
524.1
529.1===110.9fpe
526.8
524.9
527.1

410 gets a upgrade in the barrel

hi guys
this is from my own 410erb , its been a great shooter up until one day when out target shooting it all the sudden stopped grouping ,
it went from one hole group at 25 yards to 2-1/2 inch group and I couldn't get it to come back around , so it been sitting till this weekend ,
I had it in and out of Marvs stock but before putting it back together I figured i see if i could get the shroud off and check it out and look for any problems .

the shroud I've looked at a few time and really didn't want to mess with it but after a extra try i found it unscrewed .
and to my surprise I found it had a barrel support with o-ring that both failed and slide forward causing the barrel to drop a little in the shroud and cause clipping issues which led to the inaccuracy.

410

there's just one grub screw that holed the barrel in place

Photobucket
the shroud floats in the barrel band with a o-ring in side of it

410 barrel

the gun had in it three baffle , i believe its missing two and should have had five in it from looking at PDF files on the gun .
if so this led to the part moving forward as it free floats on the barrel
you can see the bad o-ring in this pic

410erb

here you can see how fare the factory support can move on the barrel

410ERB

I had to make a tool to get the front part out of the shroud and use some heat

Photobucket

instead of just putting it back together I recrowned the barrel .
(before )

410
(after)

410

then I installed a new barrel support .

and spacer to make up for the missing parts .

Photobucket

after it was back together and sited in all was back to normal
maybe a little better .
with this ten shot group

Now my 410s ready for action again .
